When it rains it poors
I'm in a popular culture class and Dr. T has challenged us to think about why we care about celebrities. We don't know them. They aren't our friends. That question has been on my heart.
Britney has been the topic of my other blogs and I think I'll continue with her. She has recently had to turn over custody of her children to K-Fed. She then went tanning. One article in last weeks US Weekly indicated that she is on a downward spiral and could easily be headed toward suicide. Even if you don't like Britney, even if you think she can't sing, dance, or act, she is still a person. She is still one of God's creations and she is in a bad spot in her life. Have you that are reading this never been in a bad place? Have you never made mistakes and continued down the wrong path simply because you didn't know how to stop? I have and it stinks. What's worse is that Britney is famous and her every move is publicized. Everyone is watching but who is helping? Forget about her celebrity status. This is a young girl, in a very harsh industry, that has lost her children, her husband, and her family. Why do I care about Britney? I care because she's a person. I pray that God will give her strength to make it through this devestating time. I pray that God will guide her back onto a Christian path. I pray that God will protect her children. I don't care if she ever makes another record, video, or movie. But I would hate to read about a suidice in a few months.
As Dr. T challenged us, I challenge you that read this - pray for this person to get back with God.
